Visa Application Fee
The visa application fee is the basic cost of applying for imported workers, payable by the employer to the Hong Kong Immigration Department, and varies by visa type. It generally covers processing the application documents, assessing the applicant's eligibility and issuing the visa.

Employees Retraining Levy
Amount: HK$9,600 per imported worker (paid in a lump sum). Purpose: this levy is a statutory requirement intended to support retraining programmes for local employees. Timing: payable in one go after the imported worker's visa is approved and before the Immigration Department issues the visa.
Accommodation Arrangements
Employers must provide imported workers with suitable accommodation as required by law, and the related costs (such as rent) are ongoing operating costs that should be built into the overall manpower budget. Under the amended regulation effective 16 June 2026, an employer may deduct 20% from an imported worker's monthly wages towards accommodation costs, but the deduction must not exceed the actual accommodation expenses.

Recruitment advertising fees: when recruiting on your own, an employer may need to pay recruitment advertising fees, with market rates of around HK$1,000 or depending on the specific platform.
